WiFi 7 vs. 5G: Which is better? QCN9074 and IPQ9574
WiFi 7 and 5G are two different technologies for different application scenarios. They have their own advantages and applicability.
WiFi 7 is the next-generation wireless local area network (WLAN) standard, offering higher speeds and greater capacity. It uses higher frequency bands and more antenna technology to deliver speeds of up to 30Gbps over short distances. Suitable for homes, offices, and public places, WiFi 7 can support a large number of simultaneous devices and provide faster download and upload speeds.
5G is the fifth generation of mobile communication technology for wireless wide area network (WWAN). It uses different frequency bands and transmission technologies to provide high-speed mobile Internet connections. The advantages of 5G lie in its wide coverage, low latency and high bandwidth for mobile devices and wide-area communication needs, such as smartphones, IoT devices and connected vehicles.
WiFi 7 and 5G are two different wireless communication technologies, and their main differences are as follows:
Application scenarios: WiFi 7 is mainly used to establish a wireless local area network (WLAN) for wireless connections within a limited range such as homes, offices, and public places. 5G is a mobile communication technology that provides wide-area coverage of wireless Internet connections, suitable for mobile devices and wide-area communication needs.
Frequency band and coverage: WiFi 7 usually works in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands, and the coverage is short, which is suitable for providing high-speed wireless connections within a limited range. 5G works in multiple frequency bands, including the higher millimeter-wave frequency band, which has a wider coverage area and can achieve high-speed wireless connections within the city.


Speed and capacity: WiFi 7 adopts higher frequency band and multi-antenna technology, which can provide higher speed and capacity. It can support speeds up to 30Gbps, which is suitable for simultaneous connection of a large number of devices and high-speed data transmission. 5G can theoretically offer higher speeds, but actual speeds may be affected by network density and signal strength.
